Oregon WAP Application Information

The Oregon Weatherization Assistance program (WAP) is a federally sponsored program that helps low-income households reduce their energy related utility bills by implementing energy efficiency measures in their homes. The services of these programs help to promote energy efficiency as well as improve the level of comfort in the homes f qualifying households. Some of these services include:

  • Replacement and installation of broken windows and doors

  • Insulation of windows, floors and attics

  • Periodic safety inspection on heaters, furnaces and other sensitive heating devices

  • Inspection and repair of home ventilation an air supply systems

The primary funding for this program comes from the US Department of Energy (DOE) and its services are distributed through a network of Community Action Agencies spread across the state of Oregon.

In order o qualify for the Oregon Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP); applicants need to meet a set of eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are based on the applicant’s household income, area of residence, and participatory status in other social service programs; such as AID for families with children, SSI, TANF and LIHEAP. Applicants for the Oregon Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) must be residents of the state of Oregon and US nationals or registered legal aliens.

Participation in Other Social Service Programs

Applicants for the Oregon Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), who are currently participating in other social service programs such as SSI, TANF, LIHEAP and AID for families with children, are considered automatically eligible for the program. This stems from the fact that these programs have similar eligibility requirements to the Oregon Weatherization Assistance Program.
