WAP Application Instructions


Applying for the Iowa Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a fairly easy and convenient process. All you need to do is to contact your nearest local Community Action Agency (CAA) county office available on this link: www.dcaa.iowa.gov/bureau_weath/how_apply (Iowa WAP List of Local Community Action Agencies).

You will meet a local program representative who will guide you through the application process and interview you to establish your eligibility to the program.

Upon successful completion of the application process, you will start enjoying the benefits of the program.


Eligibility Requirements


In order to qualify for the Iowa WAP applicants need to meet a set of eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are based on the income, area of residence and the applicant’s participatory status in other social service programs such as SSI. These eligibility requirements are highlighted below:

Iowa WAP- Income Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Iowa WAP applicants need to have an income that is either equal to or less than the specified maximum depending on the household size. More information can be found on Iowa's weatherization page. These income eligibility requirements are based on the gross income after tax:

Iowa WAP- Residential Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the Iowa WAP must be residents of the state of Iowa and US Nationals or registered legal aliens.

Participation in Other Social Service Programs

Applicants who are already receiving benefits from other social service programs such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and AID for families with children are considered automatically eligible for the Iowa Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).
