WIC Application Instructions


Applying for the New Jersey WIC program is a fairly easy process. All you need to do is to contact your local New Jersey clinic and schedule an appointment for an interview. Before going for the interview you should remember to carry important documents as specified by the New Jersey WIC program representative. On the day of the interview you will be subjected to a medical examination, the program representative will then go ahead to verify identification, income and other documents. This will be followed by a set of questions aimed at establishing your eligibility to the program.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the New Jersey WIC program, applicants need to meet a set of eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are broadly divided into:

New Jersey Categorical WIC Eligibility Requirements:

In order to qualify for the New Jersey WIC program, you must belong to the three categories of Women, Infants and Children. Additionally you need to meet the individual categorical eligibility requirements which are highlighted below:

Women

In order to qualify for the New Jersey WIC program, women need to be:

  • Pregnant or within 6 weeks of the delivery of an infant
  • Postpartum
  • Breastfeeding women up to the infants first birthday

Infants

  • Are eligible up to their first birthday

Children

  • Are eligible up to their fifth birthdays

Residential Eligibility Requirements

Applicants to the New Jersey WIC program must be residents of the state of New Jersey (proof of residence is required during the interview). Additionally they should be US citizens or legal aliens.

Applicants to the New-Jersey WIC program need to meet a specified set of income eligibility requirements.
