LIHEAP Application Instructions
Applying for the Vermont LIHEAP program is a fairly easy and convenient process which can be done by filling an online application for, filling a paper application form, or applying in person by visiting the local Vermont LIHEAP offices.
Vermont LIHEAP-Online Applications
You can apply online for the Vermont LIHEAP program by following this link: www.dcf.vermont.gov/apply_for_benefits (Vermont LIHEAP Online Application Portal) before filling out this application, you should make sure that you collect all the necessary household information. The Vermont LIHEAP online application is preferred by many applicants due to its convenience.
Vermont LIHEAP-Paper Application
You can apply for the Vermont LIHEAP program by filling and submitting a paper application. All you need to do is to download the Vermont LIHEAP application form from this link: www.dcf.vermont.gov/sites/dcf/fuel_app (Vermont LIHEAP Application form). Before filling the application form, you should make sure that you read all the instruction and collect the required information. Applying In Person
You can apply in person for the Vermont LIHEAP program by visiting your local Vermont LIHEAP office. Here you will fill and submit an application form to be evaluated and verified by a Vermont LIHEAP program representative. Upon successful completion of the application process, you will start receiving the program benefits.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Vermont Seasonal Fuel Assistance (LI-HEAP) program, applicants must meet a set of eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are based on the income, residential status and participation in other social service programs.

Vermont LIHEAP- Residential Eligibility Requirements
In order to qualify for the Vermont LIHEAP applicants must be residents of the state of Vermont and either US nationals or registered legal aliens.
Participation in Other Social Service Programs
Applicants participating in other social service programs such as SNAP, SSI and TANF are considered automatically eligible for the Vermont LIHEAP program. This is mainly attributed to the fact that these programs have similar income eligibility requirements with the Vermont LIHEAP.
