You can also obtain and submit a paper application to your nearest local count office found on this link: http://www.wvdhhr.org/bcf/county/default.asp (List of DHHS local county offices). After submitting your application you will be contacted by a West Virginia Food Stamps (SNAP) program representative, who will schedule an interview with you. Before going to the interview, you should remember to carry important documents such as a government issued identification document, Social security number, recent bank statement and other documents that are specified by the program representative.

During the interview the program representative will verify your documents and will ask you questions that will help establish your eligibility to the program. Upon successful completion of the process you will start receiving benefits within 30 days after you submitted your application.


Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible for the West Virginia Food Stamps (SNAP) Program you must meet a specified set of eligibility requirements. Income Eligibility Requirements

Resource based eligibility Requirements

For elderly and disabled individuals the resource maximum is $3250 worth of countable assets. It should however be noted that the resource test only applies to "countable assets" and not assets such as the home, pensions benefits and lots.

Employment Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the west Virginia Food Stamps (SNAP) program, able bodied individuals between the ages of 16 and 60 must be willing to work, be actively looking for employment and should participate in an employment training program to which they are referred to by their local office.

Residential Eligibility Requirements
