Some of the energy measures implemented by the Kentucky WAP in the homes of qualifying low-income families include:
-
Caulking of doors and windows
-
Replacement of broken doors and windows
-
Installation of insulation material on the walls , floor and ceilings
-
Installation of thermostats and furnace tune-ups
-
Implementation of safety measures within the homes of beneficiaries
At the county level the services of Kentucky WAP are available through a network of Community Action Agencies (CAA), which are spread across the state.
In order to qualify for the Kentucky Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), applicants need to meet a specified set of eligibility requirements. These eligibility requirements are based on the average household income, area of residence and the applicant’s participatory status in other social service programs such s Aid for families with children, SSI, TANF and LIHEAP. It should be noted that the Kentucky WAP gives special considerations to the disabled, elderly and families with children.
